When To Replace Your Windows

Did you know that your home windows have a lifespan of approximately 15 to 20 years? If your windows have surpassed this age, it might be time to consider replacing them. To help you decide when it’s time to replace your windows, we have provided a brief list of what to look for:
  • Your windows are visibly damaged. One of the most obvious signs you need to replace them is if they are showing damage. Damaged windows are more likely to lead to other concerns like mold, mildew, water seepage, and pests.
  • Your home’s electricity bills have increased. Higher utility bills could be because your old windows are letting hot or cold air in, making your HVAC system work harder. New energy-efficient windows, will lower your monthly utility bills.
  • Your windows are drafty. This is a strong indicator you need to replace your windows.
  • Your windows have stopped dampening sound. If you’re hearing more outside noises when your windows are closed, it’s time to invest in modern double or triple-pane windows.
  • Condensation is forming between the panes of your windows. When condensation forms in these areas, the air-tight seal has failed.

Window Installation Questions And Answers

No. The installation will only leave you with a little sweeping and vacuuming after your window installation. To save time, you may want to cover furniture with plastic drop cloths to do less vacuuming. Remember to move all large objects and secure valuables.

Look at the completion date just under the date of your contract. That is when your windows will be completed at the factory. We will call you to set the installation date once the windows are shipped to our warehouse.
We suggest you call your alarm company to determine if the alarm needs to be removed before we arrive. Since we can only cut the wires to install the windows, we can not reconnect them and aren’t responsible for damaged wires or broken circuits.
Nothing! Your vinyl windows are maintenance-free. Only the wood portion of a bow or bay window will need attention. The vinyl, as well as the exterior capping and caulking, are always completely maintenance-free.
We never want there to be additional charges on the day of your installation. When we measure your windows, we will inspect them to see if any additional work is needed. Most times, nothing is needed. If you want work done that is unnecessary, you must mention it during the contract or measuring process. We will then price the additional work.
Since your new windows will have a vinyl frame, the opening and the glass will be slightly smaller. Windows are different sizes, but you can lose 1 to 3 inches on each side, depending on your existing windows.
We cannot guarantee that your air conditioner will still fit in your window. We recommend purchasing a new unit after installation of your new windows to ensure proper fit. If your unit has no room, it will probably not fit in the new window. Please also remember we do not remove or put back air conditioners.
You are responsible for removing and reinstalling your blinds or shades. Sometimes, you may need to modify them to fit your new windows or purchase new blinds or shades altogether. You must also remember to let the caulking dry for 24 hours before re-installing.
We only remove the small stop molding around the window, not the face molding or stool. If the old molding is in good condition, we will reinstall it, and you will only have to touch it up. If you want new stop molding, it is free, but you must prime and paint it since it is raw pine molding. New molding can be a different size than your old molding, which may cause a problem with your window treatments. New stop molding can only be done if requested before the job is completed.
Only if you paid the additional charge for grids, and it is written into your contract. If not written, your windows will have NO grids.

All warranties for your windows are available upon request once the job is completed and paid in full.

We will be performing lead-safe work practices on your home only if it is written on your contract with the appropriate charge of $129.00 per window or door.
