How Much Does It Cost For Picture Windows?

Average cost of picture windows

On average, you can expect to pay $400 to $1,800 for a new picture window.

Picture windows have a single pane of glass that is not broken up by any lines, can not be opened, and are often found in living rooms or other focal points of the home. They offer beautifully unobstructed views of the outdoors. And they let in a great deal of sunlight while connecting your indoor space with the great outdoors.

This cost includes both materials and labor, but keep in mind that the cost can go up depending on the window brand, materials, and features you choose. When you compare picture window costs with double-hung windows or casement windows, you will often find that windows are more affordable. This is generally because it doesn’t have all the moving parts that other windows have. The simple design is what makes the window so beautiful, but it also makes it more affordable.

Shopping for these windows, though, can be challenging. It’s important to consult a professional window contractor to ensure you’re getting the right replacement windows for your home.

Materials

The cost for new windows will vary depending on the different window frame materials you choose. Our picture window frames are available in wood, vinyl, and composite materials.

Vinyl windows have greatly improved in quality and durability over the last 10+ years. It is often a less expensive material, but it doesn’t mean it has to be “cheap.” A well-constructed, properly installed vinyl window can be a practical choice. We have partnered with Ideal Windows, the No. 1 vinyl window in the industry, since 1989 and we’re proud to be a certified dealer. Vinyl picture windows are the best “bang for your buck” as they require little to no maintenance and are affordably priced compared to composite or wood windows.

What do vinyl picture windows cost?

The average cost to install a vinyl picture window ranges from $400 to $800.

What do aluminum picture windows cost?

The average cost to install an aluminum picture window ranges from $800 to $1,600. Aluminum windows are durable, lightweight, affordable, available in a variety of styles, and energy efficient, making them a great choice for any home.

Composite windows are made from a combination of wood, fiberglass, and vinyl. Get the best of both worlds: a low-maintenance exterior that encases a more efficient mix of wood and fiberglass interior. We offer Andersens Fiberex and Pella Composite windows for this option. While these options will be more expensive, they are available in more design options than vinyl windows.

What do composite picture windows cost?

The average cost to install a composite picture window ranges from $1,000 to $1,800.

Wood windows offer a natural beauty that gives your home a traditional appearance. They require more regular maintenance than the other options. Most windows are no longer made of wood because the wood will rot, warp and swell over time. We do not recommend getting wood windows installed on your home.

Glass Types

A key component of any window is its glass—and the right glass, optimized for Long Island’s unique climate, can help reduce the heating and cooling costs by slowing thermal transfer.

Dual-pane or triple-pane glass is notably more efficient than single-pane glass. You will notice the difference, especially during the harsh Long Island winter climate. Laminated, tempered, tinted, and obscure insulating glass can also provide the UV protection needed to keep your home more energy efficient.

You likely won’t need to look much further than the window’s glass to determine the unit’s efficiency, as all windows in the Energy Star program will have a sticker on them with a rating from the National Fenestration Rating Council.
